Grounding, Protecting Yourself, and Creating a Safe Space

There are some things in life and some situations that just require an extra layer of protection. We have all been there where you get that creepy eerie haunted feeling or whether you just feel unsafe as a whole. Lucky for us, there are a whole lot of ways we can actively protect ourselves without hurting others and that is always the ultimate goal.
Why do we need protection and how does it help us to heal? Protecting ourselves is the first way that we can show that we love ourselves. When you place a protection on yourself, then it allows your brain to realize that boundaries are OK.
Boundaries are the first step to making sure that the past doesn’t repeat itself. We find these boundaries because of experiences that we’ve gone through that changed our lives in a certain way. It could be for better or for worse. We can use boundaries to create good as well as protect from evil. Setting a boundary because you know something great will come from it is one side of the coin. But once we realize that there’s a pattern of some thing that we don’t like and we don’t want in our lives, then we can place a boundary in front of us so that we don’t have to endure some thing that isn’t meant for us and our highest good. These boundaries are there to protect us from evil whether that be in spirit or in person.
Protection is important for so many reasons but if you are doing any work with spirits protection is a must. there are many forms of protection. You can protect yourself with weapons, but that’s not what I’m really talking about here it’s more of a protection of the spirit and protection from harm, but not necessarily self-defense in terms of using weapons besides those of the spiritual nature.

I’m going to give you some tools that will help you protect yourself without hurting others. First, we have to protect ourselves by removing negativity from our thought processes. we want to protect ourselves from words first And that starts with ourselves. I spoke about this in another episode, so please check that out there so you can get your mindset right. That is a super important step. Another way to remove negativity from you is to burn Sage. This is some thing I do on a regular basis to cleanse the space around me and make it new. It smells amazing in my opinion and I always feel lighter when I’m done. Like when Harry Potter eats the chocolate after the dementor gets him.
Another way to protect yourself, is to make sure you’re grounded. When you ground yourself, you align yourself with your higher purpose and that’s a huge thing. grounding yourself is not hard you just have to be in tune with yourself. I’m going to teach you how to do it right now and my favorite way to ground myself is in nature. you can ground yourself anywhere you want but the best place to do anything is in nature. Your backyard can be considered nature. If you can’t get into real nature, then picture the best part of nature in your head and pretend. It works the same way if you really dig into your imagination.

So what you will do is go outside wherever you are and take off your shoes stick your feet in the dirt close your eyes and imagine yourself becoming one with nature. Imagine growing roots out of your feet and into the earth, and that’s how close you are to the earth building that connection with the divine power, keep doing this exercise and imagine being one with the earth for as long as possible and really feel how that feels for you and see what that looks like in your mind. This is aligning you with Mother Earth and your higher self. Really feel those roots and picture them as your foundation for peace and protection. Then slowly come back and take a deep breath and open your eyes. Now that you have learned how to ground yourself and also learned a bit about earthing.
Earthing is when you connect with nature by taking off your shoes and putting your feet in nature. Really making that genuine connection to the universe. I love doing this when I hike because it makes you feel so much closer to the scenery. And it makes you stop and smell the roses because you can’t go too fast barefoot in a place you don’t know. I learned this the hard way as usual.
These are both very good ways to protect yourself because when you align with your higher purpose, the negative things around you fall away. That includes spiritual attacks and negative energy.

Another way to protect yourself is with crystals, and as a crystal healer, I have seen the power in these tiny little rocks and what they can do.
Obsidian is a great crystal to keep on hand for protection. Obsidian is made when lava meets water and cools extremely quickly. It looks like glass and be careful because it can be sharp. I have had very good experiences with that Crystal over the years and I feel really connected to it.
You can also use amethyst for protection and let me tell you something. This crystal is amazing for everything. It was one of the first crystals I ever purchased and one I will never be without again. It has a great energy to it and it’s just a happy little crystal. You can even take it in the bath with you and put some lavender in there. It’s a relaxing time but that for another episode. As for protection this crystal does the job. I even keep one in my car because I have anxiety from a car accident I was in a few years back. these are both very good and strong protection crystals they not only protect you physically, but also spiritually from spiritual attacks and evil eye.
Now that we have learned a few ways to protect ourselves, let’s use those to create a safe space for us to stay. Now that you have learned how to ground yourself, using the same technique I want you to close your eyes and picture a beautiful white energizing light coming up from these roots and forming a bubble around you to create the happiest and safest space you can possibly imagine. Now this is the start of creating your enchanted butterfly garden so hold on to this image. I want you to immerse yourself in that white light and let it fill you completely. Bring extra there is no limit on how much white light you can imagine into existence and let it hold you and protect you wherever you go. Now when you open your eyes keep that space in a corner of your mind so when something feels off or you get that anxiety pit in your stomach you can go to this corner of your world and let it fill you with peace and warmth.
The last thing I’m going to help you protect yourself from is in this real world. And that’s those dang mosquitos. If you are getting bit raise your hand. Ok I know I’m not the only one. I already discussed citronella in another episode but how about some lavender? If you have essential oil lying around rub yourself down with it. It’s helps repel them but it also helps that itch go away. Use a little carrier oil to dilute it. Or you can also add a lavender plant to your garden to keep them away on a bigger scale. I’m thinking about doing both in my garden.
